The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa has been honored with TripAdvisor’s 2014 Certificate of Excellence Award, which recognizes hospitality excellence and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.
The Catamaran, which won the award for the second year in a row, ranked 28th among San Diego’s 269 hotels on TripAdvisor for the week of May 26. It ranked 52nd this time last year, a 24-place improvement.
The Catamaran’s signature restaurant, The Atoll, also garnered 2014 Certificate of Excellence honors.
When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honorees that takes into account reviews ratings. Businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, volume, and recency of reviews. Additional criteria include a business’ tenure and popularity ranking on the site.
