Owner and Chef Charlie McKenna is thrilled to partner with Joe Manzella of TAPS Fish House & Brewery in Brea Downtown on his newest venture with the opening of the fourth Lillie’s Q. Located in Orange County in Brea at 240 South Brea Boulevard, the new 4,650 square feet space will serve award-winning competition BBQ and timeless Southern cuisine. It will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
McKenna and Lillie’s Q have garnered critical praise and awards including being named “Best New BBQ Restaurant in the Country” by Food & Wine magazine in 2011 and a first place win at Memphis In May, which is widely regarded as the world championship of BBQ. Lillie’s Q, named after Charlie’s South Carolinian grandmother, Lillie and his father, Quito, has locations in Chicago and Destin, Florida. Much like those, the Brea outpost will be slow smoking pork shoulder, tri-tip, baby back ribs, hot links, and chicken in custom-built smokers over peach wood and lump charcoal. The popular dishes such as fried pickles, hush puppies, shrimp & grits, and collard greens will also appear on the menu.
The bar will feature special brews for Lillie’s Q from Victor Novak, brewmaster of TAPS Fish House & Brewery, including a variety of classic styles of European and American ales and lagers. The bar will also serve specialty moonshine-based cocktails on draft, and the Lillie´s Q version of the traditional Bloody Mary, the Morning Lillie.
The restaurant will serve the award-winning Lillie’s Q sauces which include: Smoky, Hot Smoky, Carolina, E.N.C., Ivory, Carolina Gold, and Hot Pepper Vinegar. Each sauce is also available for purchase in-store, online or at Crate and Barrel and West Elm.
