One of Long Beach’s most highly anticipated annual events will kick off with a unique event for some very special guests. Five top Long Beach chefs will treat over 200 homeless men, women and children to a multi-course gourmet lunch at Long Beach Rescue Mission July 30th, announced Dine LBC organizer Terri Henry.  The lunch will display the culinary talents of some of the city’s leading chefs and favorite restaurants and will kick off the annual Dine LBC – Long Beach Restaurant Week that takes place August 3-11 this year.

The July 30 lunch will be held at:

  • Long Beach Rescue Mission (1335 Pacific Avenue, Long Beach)
  • 10:30 – 1pm
  • Five courses prepared and served by chefs of:

o   The Attic

o   L’Opera Ristorante

o   PigBurd

o   Meant to Be Cafe

o   Hof’s Hut

“We realize that there are many among us who won’t get the chance to dine out during Dine LBC,” said Henry, who said that close to 50 participating restaurants are involved in this year’s Dine LBC to be held August 3 – 11, 2019.  “Serving a gourmet restaurant style meal to our neighbors struggling with homelessness is our way of bringing restaurant week to them and including everyone in Dine LBC.

“Despite its size, Long Beach is a tightly knit community where diversity and civic pride is our strength,” said Chef Raquel Jubran, executive chef of PigBurd. “My fellow chefs and I are delighted to kick off Dine LBC by treating those most vulnerable in our society to an unforgettable meal.”

“The participating chefs felt this was a great way to give back to the community doing what we do best,” added Steve Massis, proprietor of The Attic on Broadway. “Dine LBC has been organizing these ‘Chefs Serving Shelters’ events every few months, and I’ve cooked and served at several.”
