Former Arches owner Dan Marcheano Passed Away

Dan Marcheano, local restaurant owner and former U.S. Marine passed away in late October of this year. He was 80. Growing up in the business, this Jersey boy worked in his father’s restaurant and in the family deli from the ripe young age of seven. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marines in 1965, Dan settled in Orange County and began working in restaurants as a busboy, waiter, and bartender. He even started his own catering business “Affairs Unlimited”.

By the 1980s, Dan was an owner of the famous Newport Beach restaurant The Arches (now A Restaurant). He managed The Arches for 25 years and became a well-known and well-liked figure in the community. Due to Dan’s tireless giving to the community and his professional success, he was awarded with the Speak Up Newport Sunshine Award in 2004. His positive impact on the community earned him this special honor. One of the organizations closest to Dan’s heart was the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization the provides relief to Marines and their families. It is clear that in both his professional and personal life, Dan lived to serve others.

A memorial celebration was held on November 10th at Sabatino’s on the birthday of the Marine Corps.
