Last Saturday, locals gathered around the table with a group of 228 community members, 100 volunteers, 5 world class chefs and heaps of locally sourced produce for the 9th Green Feast. Chef Drew Deckman of Deckmans en el Mogor curated a four-course meal inspired by Baja Norte with the help of Jennifer Sherman from Chez Panisse, Gina Galvan, Joel Harrington of Lido Bottle Works and Cathy McKnight of Eilo’s Kitchen. This special evening helped raise nearly $250,000 for The Ecology Center.
Guests enjoyed music in the garden, cooking demos in the outdoor kitchen and a special look into the future of the newest Traveling Eco Center concept. The evening could not have been possible without the gracious support of sponsors: Jim and Sheila Peterson, The Living Peace Foundation, The Marisla Foundation, The Argyros Family Foundation, Five Point, Sempra Energy, The Ranch Laguna Beach and Vissla. A special thanks also to Green Feast Chair, Vicki Marks, since the very beginning she has been the heart and soul of this special evening.
In addition to the event sponsors, the attendees made a generous pledge to sustain the highest of level programming for our educational initiatives Water, Grow, Eat and Make. Thank you for making this a night to remember. Much gratitude toward our amazing community.
