In response to the pandemic, our Health Unit wants to be sure our community knows that per federal law all health plans in California are required to cover COVID-19 testing and screening. Private plans must cover testing and screening for people with symptoms of the virus, who think they were exposed to someone with it, who are essential workers, or for whom testing is otherwise medically necessary. If you or someone you know does not have insurance, contact your local hospital or clinic and ask to be enrolled in the COVID-19 “presumptive eligibility” program to cover the screening, testing, and treatment for the virus at no cost.
