Introducing the RESTAURANTS Act

920

A message from the IRC:

For the past three months, our coalition and thousands of you have worked tirelessly to achieve one goal: to save independent restaurants. Early on, we identified that we couldn’t do this alone — we needed Congress to create a restaurant-specific fund in order for our businesses to reopen and stay open — which is why we’ve been fighting for their help every single day.

We’re proud to share that our hard work is paying off: due to our collective efforts, restaurant-specific relief was proposed as legislation in BOTH houses of Congress for the first time ever. Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-OR 3) and Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) introduced the RESTAURANTS Act of 2020, which would establish the $120B Restaurant Revitalization Fund our industry needs to survive.

What’s next? Now that we have legislation in both the House and Senate, we need to significantly turn up the pressure to make sure as many lawmakers as possible sign on, ensuring the bills pass their respective chambers. You can help by taking action now:

Email Congress

Getting Congress’ attention is always an uphill battle but the summit is now in sight. We won’t stop climbing until our industry gets the relief we need, which will in turn protect millions of jobs and reignite the U.S. economy.

Looking forward,

The IRC Team
