Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that its New York City Double Eagle Steak House has earned the 2017 Wine Spectator Grand Award, the program’s most selective award.

The awards program, created in 1981 by Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and publisher of Wine Spectator, is comprised of three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and—most prestigious—the Grand Award.  Wine Spectator’s Grand Award represents the world’s best wine programs, which deliver serious breadth of top producers, outstanding depth in mature vintages, a selection of large-format bottles, pitch-perfect harmony with the menu and superior presentation. Wine Spectator carefully assesses each candidate, including rigorous independent, on-site inspections of the wine program, cellar, service, ambiance and cuisine.

“We are truly honored to accept this prestigious award. This recognition is a testament to the many dedicated team members who have worked to cultivate our unique wine selection – especially Crystal Faye Horton, Sommelier for Del Frisco’s Double Eagle New York; Jessica Norris, Director of Beverage for Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group; and David O’Day, Director of Wine for Del Frisco’s Double Eagle New York. Their unwavering passion for wine sets our flagship restaurant apart and I’m extremely proud of all of them,” said Norman J. Abdallah, CEO of Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group. “As we begin to accelerate growth at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle we intend to stay focused on providing an unparalleled experience for our guests which of course includes our world-class wine list.”

The Double Eagle New York wine list offers iconic wines from around the world, featuring verticals of many top California producers including Heitz, Dalla Valle, Dominus, Shafer, Bond, Harlan, Screaming Eagle and Colgin. The collection of wines from the Old World include verticals from Great Estates such as Domaine de la Romanee Conti, Château Beaucastel, Etienne Guigal’s “La La” Vineyards, First Growth Châteaux: Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Mouton Rothschild & Haut Brion, Vega Sicilia “Unico”, Pingus, Ornellaia and Sassicaia.

Abdallah continued: “We appreciate the many producers and winemakers who provide spectacular vintages that our guests crave and allow us to offer such an extensive wine list. We greatly value their partnership and contributions that have helped us achieve this recognition.”

“We’re thrilled to congratulate the Grand Award Class of 2017. They are now a part of an exclusive group that represents the best restaurants in the world for wine,” said Gillian Sciaretta, Restaurant Awards Director at Wine Spectator.
