TAPS Awarded Five Medals at LA & San Diego International Beer Competitions

TAPS Fish House And Brewery Brea

Continuing in its tradition of excellence in beer-making, TAPS Fish House & Brewery has been honored with a total of five medals in two regional professional-brewing competitions: the 2017 Los Angeles International Brewing Competition and the San Diego International Beer Competition. Both organizations are affiliates of the Los Angeles and San Diego County Fairs.

TAPS, highly regarded for both its classic styles of European ales and lagers as well as unique brews that reflect the creativity and innovation of the American craft beer scene, won two Gold medals at the LAICBC for Irish Red (an Irish Red ale) and Boppeldock (a malty German-style lager), and a Silver for Amend This! (an American Pilsner).

Some 1,460 entries from 240 breweries were judged in April by the 100-member L.A.-based panel comprised of BJCP certified judges, brewmasters and beer industry officials.  Entries in 95 divisions were received from as far away as Croatia, Vietnam, Quebec and British Columbia as well as 29 U.S. states. Entries were up 30 percent from last year.  Judges handed out 88 Gold medals, 89 Silver and 81 Bronze, as well as 35 honorable mentions. A complete list of winners can be found at www.labeercomp.com.

Just days after the wins at the Los Angeles International Beer Competition, TAPS was awarded a Silver medal for Amend This! and a Bronze for Bad Ambre (an American Amber Lager) at the San Diego International Beer Competition.

Members of the TAPS Brew Crew include David Huls, Kyle Manns, Jonathan Chiusano, Max Jones and Eric Elliott. Since 2001, TAPS has won 96 medals at regional, state, national and international beer competitions.
