50% of sales made on Monday, March 28th, 2011 from all 6 Beach Pit BBQ locations were to be donated to locally operated charities to aid the earthquake and tsunami victims in Sendai, Japan. Saddleback Church’s PEACE Relief Mission Program has also agreed to match Beach Pit BBQ’s contribution to the cause up to $30,000.
This tragedy hits close to home for former Professional Baseball player and Beach Pit BBQ owner Tim DeCinces. Having lived in Japan during his youth when his dad, and also former baseball pro, played for the Yakult Swallows. Currently, Tim is working with the Japanese professional baseball team, Rakuten Eagles who play in Sendai, Japan to give the money directly to their community to help aid their relief efforts.
