Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, a fast-casual Mexican chain, is rolling out its Earth Fresh Initiative to its stores nationwide. As a result, Baja Fresh locations will now use such environmentally friendly disposable items as recycled/recyclable paper and plastic bags, unbleached recyclable burrito wrapping paper and biodegradable plates.
The chain began testing these items in December 2009 and decided to move forward with a national implementation after receiving positive feedback from customers and operators alike, according to a company release. These products were scheduled to be available in every Baja Fresh location no later than March 15.
“Baja Fresh recognizes the importance of the earth’s resources and our customers’ penchant to conserve them. By offering our products in biodegradable, recycled, and recyclable packaging, not only are we meeting the requests of our guests, but also those of the environment,” said Baja Fresh president Charles Rink. “We will continue to seek environmentally friendly solutions for additional products used in serving Baja Fresh menu items, and we look forward to the success of these and all of our future earth friendly serving products in our restaurants.”
