Five Crowns General Manager Chris Szechenyi was named the 2009 Business Rotarian of the Year at the recent Leadership Awards program of the Rotary District 5320. Five Crowns was also recognized as a leader in supporting community events.
Szechenyi was honored for his exemplary efforts in his profession, the Rotary, and the community, demonstrating professionalism and ethical behavior that inspires others. Szechenyi has been active in Rotary since 2001. He served as 2005-06 Club President and as the Chair of Environmental Service. He notes that the 4-Way Test, created by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor in 1932, is among his guiding principles. The Test is a code of ethics that asks members to make decisions using the following questions: 1) Is it the Truth? 2) Is it Fair? 3) Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships? and 4) Will it be Beneficial to all? The Test was adopted by the Rotary in 1943 and has been translated into more than 100 languages.
