TAPS brings home 5 medals for Artisan Beers

Once again TAPS Fish House & Brewery’s outstanding beers have been recognized with a total of five medals from two California based competitions. The California State Fair bestowed a gold medal on TAPS Cream Ale and a bronze on the Irish Red. The L.A. International Beer Fest gave TAPS three awards: gold for the Cream Ale; silver for the Hefeweizen and bronze for the Belgian White. In eight years, brewmaster Victor Novaks Cream Ale, a turn-of-the century style American ale thats light-bodied, straw in color, and smooth, with corn sugar added to the boil for a hint of residual sweetness, has garnered nine medals, eight of them gold. Novak, TAPS brewmaster since the restaurant opened in Brea in 1999, has amassed a total of 37 awards for TAPS beers at regional, state, national and international levels. At any one time, eight beers are featured at TAPS from a repertoire of more than 35 classic styles of European and American ales and lagers.
