Bring on the Napkins: Lillie’s Q Introduces Two New Offerings to Menu

Lillies Q Prix Fixe Menu New Menu Items

Lillie’s Q, the acclaimed barbecue restaurant that serves up slow-smoked meats and other Southern comfort fare in Brea Downtown, has made two tantalizing additions to its menu.

The restaurant has received numerous accolades in less than two years since its opening. Orange County Register restaurant critic Brad A. Johnson said: “Lillie’s Q is now officially the best barbecue in O.C.”  The new options are:

Taste of LQ — This three-course prix fixe menu ($24.99) includes a 12-oz. craft beer from the acclaimed TAPS Fish House & Brewery, located next to Lillie’s Q, and meats (pulled pork, tri-tip, chicken, ribs, brisket) that are slow cooked in Lillie’s custom-built smokers over peach wood and lump charcoal.

Diners can select one item from each of the following courses:

First Course — Fried Pickles (pickles, beer batter, ranch dressing); Smoked Deviled Eggs (pickled serranos, hot mess); 1/2 Q-Salad (bib lettuce, tomato, avocado, red onion, CB croutons)

Second Course — Shrimp & Grits (with Lillie’s sauce); Two-Meat Sampler (pulled pork, tri tip, ribs +$2, brisket +$5); Pulled Pork or Tri Tip Sandwich (on a brioche bun, served with one side)

Third Course — Banana Pudding (bananas, vanilla wafers, pudding, vanilla meringue); Fruit Cobbler (seasonal fruit +$3).

Also new to the menu:

Lillie’s Q Bucket of Fried Chicken

Bucket of Fried Chicken — A table can enjoy a 4-lb. chicken brined for 24 hours, then dredged in seasoned flour and buttermilk, fried and served in a bucket.  It’s cut 10 ways into two wings, two thighs, two legs, and two breasts cut into four pieces. Priced at $20, it comes with four buttermilk biscuits baked with a touch of cornmeal for added texture and served with Tupelo honey butter.

TAPS Fish House & Brewery founder and proprietor Joe Manzella partnered with Lillie’s Q founder, chef Charlie McKenna, to bring McKenna’a legendary Chicago-based Lillie’s Q to Brea in December 2014, the first location west of the Mississippi River.

The 4,600-square-foot Lillie’s Q in Brea was the fourth to open after the original Lillie’s Q, nestled in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood. Its interior of meat-hook light fixtures with Edison bulbs and reclaimed wooden tables give the restaurant an unmistakable Southern vibe.

There now are four Lillie’s Q locations, including two in Chicago and one in Florida.

Lillie’s Q is located at 240 S. Brea Blvd., Brea, 714-482-2001. Monday through Friday closed for lunch, open for dinner at 4 p.m., happy hour 4 p.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday open for lunch at 11:30 a.m., happy hour 2 p.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday brunch 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Late-night happy hour Sunday through Thursday 8 p.m. to close, Friday and Saturday 9 p.m. to close.
