Cooking Light & Health Magazine’s “The Fit Foodie Race Presented by Citi” attracted thousands of fitness and food enthusiasts for mega weekend event.
Over 2,000 runners and spectators attended the first-ever Fit Foodie 5K in San Diego, CA for a run with the most delicious finish ever.
The 5K started at the South end of San Diego’s Embarcadero Park and ended at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, where runners celebrated their hard work in style at the Finisher’s Village populated with over 20 health, food, and fitness brands.
The attractions at the Finisher’s Village gave the event a thematic cohesiveness, tying food and fitness together into one mega event. Guests took part in a number of educational and tasting opportunities, including: the Citi Refuel Station, featuring healthy snacks and the “Citi Photo Finish” booth; Healthy Holiday Swaps Presented by Crest Pro-Health recipe demonstration; sampling and activations within the Cooking Light & Health pavilion; Finisher’s Village Demo Stage with live cooking demos from nationally-recognized chefs; and a food truck gathering featuring a fitness stage, pre-and post-race stretches by Kristin McGee, and back to back fitness demos. In addition, each runner received tastings from Stella Artois and Cupcake Vineyards, and enjoyed samples from 15 food stations.
In addition to the 5K, the Fit Foodie Race Weekend hosted a number of other fitness and tasting events.
The Fit Foodie Race donated a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales to Big Brothers Big Sisters’ proven one-to-one mentoring program for children in San Diego who have an active-duty military parent, live in single-parent homes, are growing up in poverty, or are coping with parental incarceration.
