Gelson’s Market Plans to Open First Long Beach Store March 1st 2013

Gelson’s Market will be opening their first Long Beach store. The location will be at the corner of PCH and East Second Street which is currently occupied by Albertson’s. The new came along with the company planning to close 18 other Albertson’s due to poor performance. There is also another Albertson’s in the Long Beach area that is scheduled to close located at 644 Redondo Street and Seventh Street.

The idea of having a Gelson’s market in Long Beach seems to match well. When I think of the Gelson’s in Silver Lake across the street from the Trader Joe’s and near a variety of diverse shops, it seems that it will carry the same type of energy to the Long Beach shopper.

“We are very eager to expand into Long Beach, it’s a natural fit for Gelson’s and we are excited to be a part of the community there,” said Rob McDougall, Gelson’s President, in a statement.

Gelson’s will open March 1st 2013 at 6255 E. Second Street after extensive remodeling. Click Gelson’s at top to visit their website.
