Opened in 1987 by Hal Fredrick and partners Don and Linda Novack, Hal’s Bar and Grill grew into a thriving hub of food, drink and culture in the heart of Venice, featuring live jazz and art exhibitions showcasing local and internationally renowned artists. Earlier this year, however, Hal’s owners announced that the landmark eatery would be moving from its original location, promising that details about a new location would be released in the near term. Its new home at Runway is now official.
‘We look forward to a dynamic new setting for Hal’s at Runway, said co-owner Don Novack. ‘In this new location, we will to continue to serve our loyal patrons and also reach a new generation of guests who share our love for good drinks, food, live music, art and fellowship. We’re thankful for the outpouring of support from our community over the past few months during this time of transition and look forward to welcoming our regular patrons and new visitors alike to dine with us.
Hal’s is the most recent addition to the growing roster of high-caliber tenants at Runway, which is slated to formally open later this year. The Cinemark Playa Vista multiplex launched earlier this year and is already drawing enthusiastic crowds; leading grocery retailer Whole Foods Market is also anchoring the property, scheduled to open this summer. Other retailers include Chase Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, CVS Pharmacy, 800 Degrees, Starbucks, The Studio MDR, Urban Plates, Panini Café, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Sol Cocina, ROC Kitchen, Lyfe Kitchen, N’Ice Cream, Varnish Nail Salon and 18|8 Fine Men’s Salons.
‘We are extremely excited to welcome Hal’s Bar and Grill to our lineup at Runway and look forward to celebrating their grand opening later this year, said David Binswanger, Executive Vice President of Lincoln Property Company. ‘We have no doubt that they will continue to build their popularity at this new establishment and will quickly become a staple of the Playa Vista community.
Offering significant residential, commercial, retail and open space in the heart of Silicon Beach, Runway offers a modern work-live-play lifestyle on the Westside. When complete, Runway will include over 220,000 square feet of retail, 420 residential units, and 30,000 square feet of office space spread across eleven acres.
