Liquid Elements, a company specializing in crafted poured floors, was bestowed with the honor of the 2012 Award of Excellence in the category of Hard Surface Flooring at the Hospitality Design Expo in May in Las Vegas. Judges Karen Daroff of Daroff Design, Anne-Marie Gianoudis from Gresham Smith and Partners, Stacy Reed of Gensler and Felice Silverman of Silverman Trykowski Associates voted on the category during the 16th annual running of the Hospitality Design Expo. Liquid Element’s entry into the competition, Reflect, swept its opposition based on the judging factors of innovation, technological advancements, cost effectiveness, environmental responsibility, aesthetics, and need and usage in the hospitality industry for both client and user benefit. Reflect beat out other surfaces such as wood, stone tile, and other poured surfaces.
The submission process starts with a three page application per product asking questions about the value of the product, sustainability, and what makes the product new or innovative to the hospitality industry. Along with the written portion, each application had four 12×12 samples and four photographed images, one from each of the color lines. Reflect not only had high value and sustainability, its innovation was showcased by its luxurious style and easy to maintain surface.
