The County of Orange Waste & Recycling Department issued a one-year $400,000 grant to kick-start a composting program with the hopes of creating an infrastructure that could possibly expand to more businesses next year. Five local businesses will be involved in the program this year in which food waste will be hauled away to a composting facility. It is estimated that 20 tons of food waste will be recycled every week in this program.
