The Award-Winning casual-dining concept Quaker Steak & Lube known for its Best Wings USA and over 20 sauce varieties will bring a new prototype restaurant to Springfield, IL will open Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 3 pm. The restaurant will create close to 200 jobs for the area and will mark the first Quaker Steak & Lube® location in Illinois making The Lube® home in 15 states. The new Lube will be located at 1121 W. Lincolnshire Blvd. Springfield, IL. The Lube® is the first restaurant to open at Legacy Pointe, located directly next to Scheels, a privately held two-story sporting goods superstore.
The streamlined 2011 prototype building maintains all the character and atmosphere that guests expect in a Quaker Steak & Lube® restaurant, all-the-while delivering a great experience in a compact powerhouse building. It incorporates tried and true construction methods for simplicity, ease and speed of erection, while integrating technology for operational savings. The building will feature high efficiency kitchen equipment, lower ceilings to decrease the amount of space needs to be air-conditioned and heated, one level roof design, enclosed patio with garage doors to increased seating capacity and a decrease in electrical amps to reduce energy costs.
“The new design is a huge part of our company’s expansion plans and represents an attractive investment for existing and potential franchisees, as well as company build,” said John Longstreet, president and chief executive officer of Quaker Steak & Lube®. “Dubbed the Lube Classic II, the new prototype is going to play an integral role in our brand’s expansion throughout the next couple years and we are excited to bring the first one to Springfield, IL.”
The new Lube Classic II encompasses a 7,775 square-foot design while accommodating seating for over 354 people including the enclosed patio and bars.
“Our guests can expect the same quality of food and experience from the prototype facility that all Quaker Steak & Lube® restaurants have to offer,” said David Miller, vice president of facilities & development.
The Springfield Lube restaurant includes four hanging motorcycles adorning the ceilings in the Handle Bar, a backyard buddy holding a local classic car, a Red Bull NASCAR and racing go-cart in the Thunder Alley room and a Corvette Convertible painted in the University of Illinois colors with Rte. 66 emblems hanging in the Vette Room. The Brick Yard patio has a full size Funny Car hanging over the bar and a backyard buddy with a locally provided raging Mustang. Guests can watch their favorite teams on the state of the art 70” LEDs and 50” plasmas throughout the restaurant – a total of 34 TVs. The newly designed retail area in the entrance holds a classic 1968 mid-engine dragster overhead.
The Lube® also dedicated a wall mural in the entry to Springfield, the land of Lincoln and Rte. 66.
The Springfield Lube will feature appetizing menu selections and will hold super-charged events all week including All-You-Can-Eat Wings every Tuesday starting at 4 pm., $.50 Breaded Boneless Wings on Thursdays all day, and in the spring look for Classic Car Cruise-Ins and Bike Nites!
