Couples seeking an extra romantic Valentine’s dinner will want a reservation at A Restaurant for a special “Chef’s Mercy” menu of aphrodisiacs. The Newport Beach restaurant is offering two seatings for Chef Jonathan Blackford’s surprise menu. The five to six course dinner will be available in A’s candlelit “Hideaway” private dining room and limited to six couples per seating, at 6 and 8:30 p.m.

The exclusive dining experience will feature known aphrodisiacs including dishes with lobster, caviar, black truffles and oysters, as well as dessert and a complimentary glass of champagne. The “Chef’s Mercy” Valentine’s meal is $150 per couple and reservations are required as seating will fill quickly.

Also on February 14, the restaurant’s regular menu will be available in the dining rooms with a captain’s list of special champagnes, along with A’s recently expanded wine selection of nearly 200 varietals.

A Restaurant offers modern American food in an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere. Rich in history, A was built in 1926 as a roadside diner, The Arches. Over the years, the restaurant became an acclaimed steakhouse with a lively atmosphere. Known today simply as “A”, the decor has been updated, but the restaurant and bar still have the retro chic ambiance of red leather booths and dim lighting that harken back to the heyday of Hollywood when celebrities frequented the restaurant.
