The Certified Restaurant Facility Professional (CRFP) exam was recently instituted by the Restaurant Facility Management Association (RFMA) to provide facility professionals with recognition of distinction and demonstrate their commitment to achieving excellence within the restaurant industry. This certification program provides a competency-based exam that tests restaurant facility professionals defining their overall knowledge and skills critical to the restaurant facility management industry. There are currently 26 CRFP designees that have been awarded CRFP designations.

“Participating in the Certification Program has elevated all of our games,” explains Bill Wallace, Director of Construction & Facilities, Craftworks Restaurants & Breweries. “This will bring a level of professionalism to our industry. To be recognized as having achieved this CRFP professional designation not only will be invaluable to an individual’s status with an employer, but with other trades and engineers alike. This new certification exam is a great benchmark for identifying leading restaurant facility management professionals.”

Top RFMA members from across the country were awarded the CRFP designation as Subject Matter Experts. This panel of leading industry representatives from Wendy’s Arby’s Group, Pizza Hut, Roto-Rooter, Pei Wei, Lubys Fuddruckers, Qdoba, Red Lobster, La Madeleine and CraftWorks Restaurants and Breweries dedicated hundreds of hours to develop questions for the CRFP exam.

The fourteen part exam covers all aspects of restaurant construction and maintenance such as repairs, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, energy management, financial management and property management.

“This certification program provides access to the first restaurant facility management professional designation,” says RFMA Executive Director, Tracy Tomson. “We are thrilled that RFMA members embraced this project.”

All Restaurant Facility Management Professionals who earn the CRFP designation are awarded a certificate and pin attesting to the only designation of its kind in the industry, as well as public recognition for their achievements.

The Restaurant Facility Management Association is an organization dedicated to advancing industry awareness of restaurant facility management, while promoting professional and ethical standards to serve the customer with added value. Based in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, RFMA includes representatives from restaurant brands across the country. More information on RFMA and the CRFP exam is available at www.rfmaonline.com.
