“Social Sundays” Arrive at Whist and Cameo

“Social Sundays” arrive at Whist and Cameo Sunday, September 25 through October 30, from 6-9 p.m. and are the perfect setting for mixing and mingling with friends old and new, dining at communal tables, playing board games and enjoying delicious grilled food and market-inspired cocktails served in Mason jars and punch bowls. The kick-off event will feature an Oktoberfest-style menu complete with homemade sausages, traditional German sides and a beer-pairing menu and beer garden featuring The Beer Chicks, Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune.

The old-school, vintage casual vibe of Whist and Cameo’s Social Sundays has a modern twist that incorporates social media. Viceroy Santa Monica and Chefs Tony DiSalvo and Chris Crary will post on Facebook and Tweet regularly about each upcoming Sunday and can be followed on Facebook.com/ViceroySM, Twitter.com/ViceroySM and Twitter.com/Whistchefs. The chefs will ask questions of their followers about what they want to see on the menu and excitement about each week will build. Guests will be encouraged to promote Social Sundays on their own personal pages and will be rewarded by receiving discounts for their participation.

Upcoming menus include a clam bake, Spanish Tapas and Southern BBQ although these could change based upon input from guests who, in addition to posting on Facebook and Twitter, will be able to mix, mingle and interact directly with the chefs each Sunday. The cost for food is $25, cocktails are $10 and on September 25, $10 buys five beer samples from the beer garden.

“From the communal dining tables to playing Scrabble or card games, Social Sundays at Whist and Cameo are all about relaxing and kicking back in an atmosphere that is conducive to socializing and meeting friends, the old-fashioned way — over great food and cocktails but with an updated twist that encourages ongoing connecting and communication through social media such as Facebook and Twitter,” says Laura Dove, GM of Whist Restaurant.
