On May 24th, 2012, Southern California Edison (SCE) crushed its millionth refrigerator as part of its Appliance Recycling Program, in an event witnessed by media and honored guests invited by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Natural Resources Defense Council. SCE is the first utility to achieve this number in its partnership with the EPA and other programs that aim to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases that are harmful to the environment and the ozone layer.
