After nearly a year of re-imagining, re-designing and re-interpreting the iconic Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel in Studio City, Calif., Weintraub Real Estate Group and broughtonHOTELS are excited to introduce their 21st century version of the legendary 190 room, eight acre hotel property and events center. Having made its original debut when “Mad Men” were actually on Madison Avenue, the spirit of Camelot had taken over the nation and men were sporting new trim two-button suits with pointed shiny shoes, the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel makes and exciting return in 2014 as the San Fernando Valley’s (and Los Angeles’) most definitive boutique hotel experience; an authentic refuge that is family-friendly, while setting the right tone for today’s urban business traveler and modern-day explorer.
The new look and feel of the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel embraces the glamour and luxury of the property’s earlier eras with a fresh, contemporary perspective. From the minute you enter the lobby, the experience begins anew with a bright new take on the lodge-like motif and historic “check-in-cage” now retired. In its place is a striking interior featuring an all white palate, rich wood paneling and yes, even some antler plaques mixed with a beautiful lodge-inspired chandeliers, nest-like chairs, comfortable leather couches and new indoor/outdoor lobby bar experience.
For the reinvigorated guest rooms and corridors, the colors are fresh and vibrant (white, orange and subtle grey). The rooms feature comfortable new beds, custom-designed bedding with a retro design aesthetic, flat screen televisions and personally operated drapes which allow the guest to control the natural light that enters their rooms. Additionally, each room now has a large desk and lounge chair, and the bathrooms have been remodeled with beautiful white sparkle quartz vanity tops. Of course, room service is still only a call away and Wi-Fi has been turbo-charged to provide guests with free and easy access to the internet. The hallways of the hotel have also become a must-see area with the addition of beautiful, photographs-transforming the common spaces into a walking exhibit, featuring photographs of Hollywood landmarks, rock n’ roll, film and celebrity icons, as well as famous pool and swimming scenes.
The famed pool area now evokes a Palm Springs spirit with a Hollywood vibe. The nearly Olympic-sized swimming pool (the largest in the San Fernando Valley) has been refreshed with a new bar area and furnishings with splashes of bright colors like tangerine and lime. The entire outdoor space creates an authentic L.A. boutique resort atmosphere.
Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley and close to the Hollywood action, the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel has taken on an iconic status in its 50 plus years of greeting guests and travelers from around the world.
Set discreetly back from famed Ventura Blvd. the hotel is reminiscent of a Hollywood hideaway showcasing lush landscaping and a garden-style design which features hotel rooms surrounding an Olympic-size swimming pool.
Completing the experience will be the re-opening of the brand new Patio Cafe in March. While the name is the same, the look, the feel and the food will all be transformed to match the new urban attitude that can be found at the hotel.
Each of broughtonHOTEL’s properties is distinctive in size, style and ambiance, but all provide locals and out-of-town visitors with a hotel experience like none other in the city. Each of their boutique hotels showcase Broughton’s vision for the ultimate urban getaway for business or pleasure, all setting the new standard for design, cool vibes, accessibility, relaxation and value.
