Takeru Kobayashi Named Chronic Tacos Eating Champion

Kicking off the 2018 Sabroso festival tour, Takeru Kobayashi won the highly acclaimed Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Challenge taco eating contest for the second year in a row, competing against seven other professional eaters at the KLOS Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco & Music Festival on Saturday, April 7 in Dana Point, CA. To win the highly-coveted title of Chronic Tacos Eating Champion, Kobayashi devoured 154 tacos in 10 minutes.

From Nagano, Japan, Kobayashi, holds eight Guinness World Records for competitive eating and is the undefeated champion of the Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Championship. In 2017 he succeeded in devouring 159 tacos in 10 minutes – shattering his own 2015 record of 144 tacos.

Additionally, KLOS Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco & Music Festival in Dana Point, CA saw taco vendors compete for the coveted Sabroso “Best Of Show,” awarded by a panel of highly acclaimed food judges.Chisme Tortilleria claimed 1st place with their Asada Cimichurri Taco: hand pressed tortilla, skirt steak, salsa roja, onions, cilantro, sambal, fresh potato chips, and chimichurri. Coming in right behind them wasFiesta Gourme in 2nd place with their Fiesta Fish Taco: flour tortilla, green salsa, serrano crema, tilapia, and cheese, and Sausage King placed 3rd with the Sausage INYO Taco: Cajun chicken, jalapeno slaw, salsa, and shredded jack cheese.
