The Singular Patagonia, located in Puerto Bories, in Southern Chile’s Patagonia region, was named “Best New Adventure Lodge” in the world by Outside, America’s leading active-lifestyle brand. This is the first year that Outside has given out their new Active Travel Awards. In order to decide who would be a recipient, the brand, which has its own magazine, used its network of correspondents to discover the best adventures, food, bars with a view, beaches, exotic retreats, great deals, and beautiful sights.
“Outsidemagazine has long been one of the world’s most trusted advisors for active and adventurous travelers,” said Outside Editor, Christopher Keyes. “This year we’ve bottled up 35 years of collective wisdom to select our first Outside Travel Awards, which will be an invaluable travel resource for years to come.”
The Singular, with its 57 rooms and spa, was honored to make the cut.
“This is a tremendous honor and one that certainly validates the time, effort, and money we have invested over the last ten years developing The Singular Patagonia,” commented CEO of the hotel, Nicolas Sahli. “Moreover, it is a testament to our entire team’s dedication to delivering a truly unique experience and we couldn’t be happier.”
The hotel opened in December, 2011, and offers guests, guided by their own private expedition team through the nearly 100 acres of land the restored Cold Storage Plant sits on,a choice of more than 20 different excursions that vary in skill set. The restoration of the 1915 plant that is now a Patagonian landmark, but was once the center of the sheep farming industry, took 10 years of hard work by the fourth generation relatives of its founders. The luxury resort offers a breathtaking view of the Fjord of Last Hope. Guests can enjoy nature on a trek of the surrounding area, or eat some of the hotel’s delicious food, which uses local, sustainable ingredients.
