The partners behind A Restaurant and A Market in Newport Beach started a new endeavor down the highway in Corona del Mar, March 2019.

They’re calling the place CdM, a common abbreviation for the coastal neighborhood, as well as the local high school, and it’s opened on March 9th of 2019.

Jonathan Blackford, also of A Restaurant, is designing the menu, which draws its influence from “America’s melting pot of cuisine.”

That means steak, fish, pizza baked in a wood stone oven, and pasta made in unique shapes. Add to that an in-house, dry curing cabinet for custom charcuterie.

“It’s accessible and delicious,” partner Joseph McGinty Nichol said in a recent interview at CdM, then still under construction.

Hollywood producer McG and restaurateur Jordan Otterbein, River Jetty Restaurant Group partners known for acclaimed A Restaurant and A Market in Newport Beach, California, are pleased to announce the grand opening of the brand-new dining concept, CdM. On Saturday, March 9, 2019, CdM opened to the public for dinner daily beginning at 5 p.m.

The Corona del Mar High School alums have created a stylish community eatery offering an unparalleled dining experience that is elevated, yet comfortable and approachable. “We are thrilled to welcome all to experience CdM,” says Otterbein. “It’s an exciting feeling to open a new restaurant that we are so proud of in the amazing community that we grew up in.”

The restaurant’s design and color palate gives a nod to the seaside surroundings while highlighting rich textures like plush velvet booths and comfortable leather lounge and barside seating areas. Interesting light fixtures from salvage shipyards compliment intricate detailing like brass accents throughout the restaurant and herringbone reclaimed wood flooring.

Corporate Executive Chef Jonathan Blackford’s creative American menu highlights unique, hand selected ingredients in each of his flavorful dishes, drawing influence from America’s melting pot of cuisines.

Start with an array of charcuterie offerings like Duck Liver Pate or Fancy Cheese Bread. Lighter fare includes veggie dishes BBQ Heirloom Carrots and Vegetable Samosas or small plates featuring Black Snapper Crudo or Crispy Pork Belly Adobo. Main dishes welcome a selection of unique house-made pastas including Hatch Chili Bucatini and larger plates present West Coast Grouper and Akaushi Skirt Steak.

With an all-new centralized bar and downstairs speakeasy style room offering an exclusive list of libations, CdM’s bar program is led by the acclaimed Bar Manager Ravin Buzzell. The extensive list of his handcrafted cocktails include a spicy Corona del MARgarita, beach-inspired Tower #5, and smoky La Ultima Fumar.

CdM is located at 2325 East Coast Highway and will be open for dinner daily beginning at 5 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 949.287.6600.
