2052

Stand up comedian, television and film actor, talk show host and author, George Lopez, will add another moniker to his multi-faceted career repertoire on September 6, with the opening of his first fast casual restaurant at San Manuel Casino in Highland, California. George Lopez’s Chingon Kitchen will add to the casino’s “All Thrill” experience introducing authentic Mexican cuisine in an vibrant, urban inspired environment with hand-painted graffiti art that pays tribute to Mexican history, culture and folklore.

“George Lopez is an iconic talent and we are honored to be partners with him to launch this innovative dining concept,” said Lynn Valbuena, Chairwoman, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. The 150 seat, 6,000 sq. ft. restaurant and hip tequila lounge will offer guests an exciting, authentic Mexican dining experience.

Upon arrival, guests step in to an open exhibition style kitchen with juicy meats grilled on an open flame;  and an oversized chalkboard menu with simple step-by-step guide to building your custom food order. Guests are invited to approach the mouthwatering scratch kitchen to make their selections, where they can watch flour and corn tortillas being made by hand as their eyes are drawn to a sea of colorful cast iron serving pots featuring freshly prepared menu ingredients all made using authentic, fresh ingredients.

“It is no secret that I am true to my Mexican roots, and I love great Mexican food,” said Lopez.  “It has been a dream of mine for many years to open a restaurant, but it had to be a chill kind of place with great food, made to order, in a bitchin environment that celebrates my heritage. Chingon Kitchen is all that and I am excited to partner with San Manuel Casino to open my first restaurant. Afterall, Chingon does mean bad ass!”

“When the opportunity arose to work with George Lopez, our team was excited to add another All Thrill experience to our casino.” said Loren Gill, General Manager, San Manuel Casino. “George Lopez’s Chingon Kitchen is yet another great reason to visit San Manuel Casino.”
