Obicà Mozzarella Bar Pizza e Cucina will open its new location on January 11, 2016 in Santa Monica, 606 Broadway, in the former space of Hostaria del Piccolo.  The menu and beverage program will take inspiration from the trendy flagship restaurant that Obicà opened in the Flatiron district in New York City in July 2014.

Obicà, which means “here it is” in Neapolitan dialect, will feature a quintessential Italian menu in a sleek, contemporary space.  The restaurant showcases authentic dishes from various Italian regions and a wine list that includes more than 160 wines and 70 grapes grown and produced throughout the country’s rich and diverse territory.

At the heart of Obicà’s success is its commitment to meticulously sourcing the highest quality local produce and top ingredients before putting them on the menu to ensure freshness and authenticity. A few dishes that will debut at the Santa Monica location include:

Tartare di Tonno – Knife-Cut Ahi Tuna, Pantelleria Capers, Taggiasche Olives, Cherry Tomatoes, Lime, Chives and Avocado Puree
Acciughe e Capperi Pizza – Sciacca Anchioves, Pantelleria Capers, Mozzarella di Bufala, Organic Tomato, Fresh Oregano
Cotoletta alla Milanese – Bone-In Breaded Veal Cutlet, Wild Arugula, Cherry Tomatoes

Obicà is the only restaurant in Los Angeles to directly import Mozzarella di Bufala DOP (Denomination of Protected Origin) twice a week from cheese makers in Campania, southern Italy, ensuring the utmost freshness and quality. Obicà offers four kinds of mozzarella: a traditional Bufala Classica, Bufala Affumicata, which is smoked on iron nets over a hay fire, Burrata, which is sweet and creamy, and Burrata al Tartufo with black truffle.

Obicà also serves its signature pizza, prepared with a blend of stone-ground white flour and whole wheat organic flour, cooked in the restaurant’s stone pizza oven. Obicà’s pizza dough is left to rise for a minimum of 48 hours, with no chemical yeasts, resulting in an airy and lighter texture.

“It will be exciting to open in Santa Monica, very close to the farmers market where Chef Erind, Chef Samuele and I will go to select the best produce and fruits coming from our beloved organic California growers,” says Raimondo Boggia, CEO of Obicà group.  Boggia continues, “Our friends and clients from the Palisades and Santa Monica area will be extremely happy not to have to cross the 405 to come to Obicà for our fresh mozzarella, unique pizzas and authentic regional Italian dishes.”
