TLT Food

TLT Food, a brick and mortar concept from Orange County native Chef Daniel Shemtob’s award-winning The Lime Truck, opened its doors in Newport Beach, CA on Thursday, August 4. A partnership between Shemtob, and the father-son team of Jason, Zach, and Murray Wishengrad, TLT Food offers notoriously edgy street food by way of a menu designed for sharing, mixing and matching. The restaurant serves brunch, lunch and dinner, keeping menus unpretentious, eclectic, and heavily accented with diverse street food flavors. The third location for TLT Food, Newport Beach’s store is located in The Bluff’s Shopping Center at Bison and MacArthur next to the University of California, Irvine and offers the same low key vibe presented at the brand’s Westwood and Irvine locations.

Chef Daniel Shemtob and the Wishengrad’s are excited to bring their concept back to their Newport Beach home.

Chef ShemtobChef Shemtob says of the opening, “The Lime Truck started in Orange County – it’s where my roots are, and I can’t wait to show Newport what TLT Food is all about and how far we’ve come.”

With a menu that pays homage to TLT Food’s food truck roots while incorporating innovative, sit-down-friendly fare, TLT Food’s offerings are accented by worldly flavors and cater to gluten free and vegetarian diets. Fan favorites include the Ahi Tuna Tostada with sushi grade ahi, garlic ginger dressing, pickled veggies, avocado, lime, cilantro, iceberg and sesame seeds, the Blue Crab Grilled Cheese with blue crab, cheese blend, scallions, jalapenos, sambal, grilled sourdough, and the Pork Belly Adobo Taco with Braised Pork Belly, Pico de Gallo, Sambal, and Cilantro. Brunch, a fast favorite at TLT Food, is served on Saturday and Sunday mornings and includes items such as the Breakfast Nachos with scrambled egg, cheese sauce, guajillo pepper sauce, guacamole, pico de gallo, corn chips and bottom-less mimosas.

Accompanied by a wide selection of craft beer and wine, signature to TLT Food is Limeade, a sweet and pleasantly tart beverage with rotating flavors such as Prickly Pear, Coconut and Guava. Also available “loaded” with the addition of pure agave nectar tequila, all limeades are made from scratch daily.

Featuring the restaurant’s signature ‘industrial chic’ and lime green aesthetic, TLT Food’s new Newport Beach location will extend both indoors and outdoors with ample seating on the shared patio. The space is communal by design, with dining tables lending to guests sharing meals with friends, or making new ones. Playing handpicked music from Shemtob’s own extensive playlists, the restaurant’s vibe is heavily influenced by his upbringing and his varied life experiences, including classic ‘oldies’ to the newest hip hop and everything else in between.
