Wine Wednesdays with Advanced Sommelier Wendy Shoemaker – Marina Kitchen – San Diego

Marina Kitchen, located in the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina celebrates Wine Wednesdays with Advanced Sommelier, Wendy Shoemaker. Shoemaker will lead attendees through an educational journey that explores wine regions, pairings, and the next big thing in wine. The wine education series explores a different wine topic each week.

Priced at $20 per person, only 12 seats are available for each class. In addition to the educational component and wine tasting, attendees receive $10 off towards dinner at Marina Kitchen, to be redeemed the evening of the class, as well as 50 percent off a bottle of wine priced up to $100. Throughout the months of July, August and September, Wine Wednesdays with Wendy Shoemaker focus on the following:

Wednesday, September 9: Deductive Tasting 101- The blind taste test: a Wine Wednesday favorite! Do you have what it takes to be the ultimate blind taste tester? Learn the strategies and techniques used by the experts!

Wednesday, September 16: California Cabernet- Cabernet is King in Napa Valley. Explore the differences of hillside and valley fruit character during this wine seminar. This four-course dinner with wine parings is priced at $85 per person.

Wednesday, September 23: California Dreaming- California is known for dreaming big and trying new things. Taste from the region’s Rhone, Grenache, Syrah, Spanish and Italian varietals. This four-course dinner with wine parings is priced at $85 per person.

Wednesday, September 30: Tempting and Tasty, Food and Wine pairing- Learn the ins and outs of food and wine pairings through a seminar discussing both progressive and classic combinations.

August:

Wednesday, August 5: Scintillating Southern and Central Italy- From the Sicilian coast to the areas around Rome and Tuscany, enjoy classic varietals only found in the beautiful, rural regions of Italy.

Wednesday, August 12: Deductive Tasting 101- Stand up to the ultimate test in wine: the blind taste tasting. This class discusses strategies and techniques for becoming a better blind taster.

Wednesday, August 19: What Grape From Where? – During this course, discover varietals never heard of before, from places that most people only dream about traveling to.

Wednesday, August 26: Native Northern Italy- Taste fine Italian wines and experience firsthand why this region, home to more native grape varietals than anywhere else on earth, is often considered the Garden of Eden for grapes.

Wednesday, September 2: Coastal California- To kick off California wine month, explore both famous and new wines found along the California Coast.

    July:

July 15: Not too far away… but just enough to be a different world. Come try the many different wines that are being made in the Central Coast! From Chardonnay to the wines of the pioneering Rhone Rangers.

July 22: Blind tasting: Do you have what it takes to be a blind taster? Come learn the technique behind one of the hardest skills of a Sommelier!

July 29: Bellisimo Italy!: Italy is a diverse country in both landscape and wine. Come join us on a tour enjoying wines from the North Apennine Mountains of Piedmonte to the coasts of Sicily.
