The Best of the Best Orange County Chefs submitted videos of their sandwich creations to be a contestant at the Western Foodservice and Hospitality Expo Rapid Fire Challenge. After a Facebook and show management vote conducted on July 12 – 17, the top three chefs were chosen to face-off against one another onsite at the Expo.
The Chefs will prepare samples for three judges and mini samples for the first 50 guests in the audience. The winner receives $1,000, bragging rights for the Best Sandwich in Southern California and the title of Rapid Fire Challenge Champion and press exposure to over 100 media outlets including the LA Times, Huffington Post, Great Taste Magazine, local television affiliates as well as 10,000 industry peers!
The 3 Chefs that received the most votes and that will be competing on stage at the Western Foodservice Expo are:
- Chef Paul Cao of Burnt Crumbs with his Fried Chicken Sandwich with 285 votes
- Chef Steven Agosto of Kelsey’s at Pechanga Resort & Casino with his Smoked Lechon Sandwich with 238 votes
- Chef Max Schlutz of Sessions West Coast Deli with his Summer Zephyr Sandwich with 222 votes
Each Chef will duke it out to impress three, esteemed judges: Chef Brian Huskey, Chef Shirley Chung and Chef Kastuji Tanabe.
