Papa Murphy’s Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRSH) the world’s leading take ‘n’ bake pizza franchise, announced today the company will help host the inaugural “Love Santa Ana” initiative in Santa Ana, California on Sunday, September 21. The city-wide initiative is designed to bring families together, foster a sense of community pride throughout Santa Ana’s neighborhoods and benefit Edward B. Cole, Sr. Academy.

Cole, Sr. Academy as it continues to provide a positive learning environment that engages and inspires both students and parents,” said Papa Murphy’s CEO Ken Calwell. “Serving with purpose is core to our brand and we are pleased to be able to bring families together through food people love while supporting this great cause and lending our hands and resources to ensure these children have the educational tools and resources needed to succeed.”
Papa Murphy’s, along with the city of Santa Ana, Councilman David Benavides and several community churches, will team up to host “Love Santa Ana,” a day of celebration for the local community and school. As part of this event, Papa Murphy’s employees, franchise owners and supply partners will volunteer alongside 600-1000 students, families and residents to help beautify the neighborhood through various projects and participate in a back-to-school kick-off carnival. In addition, Papa Murphy’s will donate much needed back-to-school supplies and serve fresh pizza at the event.

“This is the first in a series of quarterly events to promote good works in the Santa Ana area. It is exciting to kick-off this initiative that will have an immediate positive impact on our community,” said Councilman David Benavides.
Edward B. Cole, Sr. Academy, a public charter elementary school, opened its doors with 89 students in 2003, and today is preparing to welcome over 400 students for the 2014/2015 school year, despite the high levels of poverty and immigration that have placed the city of Santa Ana under distress. EBC Academy has established itself as an essential academic element of the Santa Ana community, where the school day is more than just the instruction of the student, but an innovative avenue of change.
