CASA Cocina y Cantina, Los Angeles, appoints new Executive Chef Alex Moreno to whip up new delicious eats inspired by neighborhood Mexican eateries. The chef’s new menu will feature items such as taqueria and Mexican street popular foods. CASA is currently highlighting La Taquiza on Figueroa Street with Mulita de Carnitas ($9), which is inspired by taking two corn tortillas and stuffing them with cheese and protein. Moreno’s take on the Mulita de Carnitas is by using peaches, bought a Farmer’s Market, Manchego cheese and arugula salad. With each season, the menu will feature a new dish, with the new item approaching in the next few weeks. All dishes are priced under $20 and will promise a new playful take on Mexican cuisine. Some of Moreno’s dishes include Tacos, Enchiladas, Plato Especiales, and Jaime’s Chicken Burrito ($16) constructed like a giant sushi roll, but containing all of the Mexican’s favorite fillings. Just in time for a holiday treat, CASA’s Feliz Navinog, ($8) which includes vanilla vodka, horchata, egg nog and garnished with a candy cane.
