Citymeals-on-Wheels announced the appointment of Chef Daniel Boulud as Co-President of its Board of Directors. Boulud ” one of New York’s most revered French chefs and American culinary authorities ” whose Dinex Group empire includes the three Michelin-starred DANIEL, Cafe Boulud, db Bistro Moderne, DBGB Kitchen & Bar, and several other restaurants in New York City and abroad ” has been actively involved with the organization for more than 15 years and a Board member since 2000. He will serve alongside Co-President Anne E. Cohen, a partner at the law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.

Generous with his time, talent, and financial support, Boulud’s commitment to Citymeals has been extraordinary. Boulud’s annual “Sunday Supper” benefit, an exclusive dinner at Restaurant DANIEL, has raised more than $6 million for the charity since 2003. Since 1998, his presence and DANIEL tasting station at Citymeals annual Chefs’ Tribute in the Rockefeller Center Garden is a marked favorite with fans and supporters for both Chef Boulud and his New York City team.

A native of Lyon, France, Boulud rarely misses an opportunity to bring attention to the plight of New York’s most vulnerable citizens in his adopted city. Restaurant openings and other milestones are celebrated with fundraisers to benefit Citymeals. Several times a year he prepares and delivers meals to his frail aged neighbors, recruiting many other star chefs in the effort.

Feeding and caring for older New Yorkers since 1981, Citymeals-on-Wheels (citymeals.org) supplies a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to our city’s homebound elderly. Citymeals works with 33 community-based meal centers to deliver over 2 million weekend, holiday and emergency meals to more than 17,000 of our frail aged neighbors. Last year, more than 12,000 volunteers provided over 55,000 hours of compassionate visits. One hundred percent of donations from the public goes toward the preparation and delivery of meals for our most vulnerable neighbors. Citymeals, a 501 (c)(3) charity, has a Charity Navigator 4-star rating and meets the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance Standards.
